Today BUNT activists celebrated the birthday of Dzianis Dzianisau by pasting several hundredths of posters, where they spoke about the political criminal case to have been holding Dzianisau jailed for almost 2 months already. Mensk citizens could see the posters in Skaryna Avenue, in the underground passages, near the railway station, Belarusian State University, at Niamiha and other places of the city.

No one was arrested.

"Happy Birthday Denis!

Young guy Denis Denisov is 28 today. He does not celebrate this day with his family and friends, but in a prison cell instead. It is almost 2 months that Denis stays in prison for having committed a "very severe" political crime. What did he do?

Last June young people from the BUNT movement held several actions in Vitebsk: they unfolded a spreader and a national flag; they were distributing leaflets and drawing graffiti on the pavement. Denis was in Vitebsk at that time. What is so awful about it you may ask? We don't know, but both KGB and MIA see those actions as awful crimes and the intrigues of the "Capitalist West" - that is why Denis has a criminal case issued against him according to article 342 of the Criminal Code - "organization of mass actions, disturbing civil peace, or taking active part in such actions".

Currently he is threatened with an up to 3-year imprisonment. Nonsense? It is. There is a lot of nonsense in our country.

Let us remind you that the criminal case was opened on the basis of a number of actions conducted by BUNT in June 2006 (at that time a white-red-white flag and a spreader were unfolded at the central square of Vitebsk, a lot of leaflets were distributed and graffiti drawn). The case suspects are Dzianis Dzianisau and Tatsiana Yelavaya. Over 80 people are this case's witnesses.

Let us emphasize that the campaign on gathering money to pay off Dzianis Dzianisau's liberation started about one month ago by civil activists gave its results. It is today that the sum of USD 7500 has been gathered. We hope that in the nearest future Dzianis will be set free.
