These days activists of BUNT are involved in spreading printed materials with information about absurd verdict to Aliaksandr Zdvizhkou which was sentenced for 3 years of prison because of cartoons.

Text of leaflet is following: “What so ugly did Zdvizhkou do? Maybe he fired up synagogue or did he beat student from Africa shouting “Sieg heil”? NO! Aliaksandr Zdvizhkou has just reprinted Dutch cartoons of Muhammad in “Zgoda” newspaper. That cartoons where reprinted by 143 newspapers in 56 countries.

On January 17 in Mensk students commemorated a month anniversary of the law which eliminated student and other benefits from the Belarusian legal landscape. Students read a vow, which, among other things, included the following words: “I am a student, I swear to ride for free in all public transportation carriers and, if possible, in the subway. I also swear to demand our government to return the benefits.”

The students participating in the protest wore white hats with rabbit years, ate cabbage and carrots.

Yesterday Mensk and other cities of Belarus traditionally commemorated the Day of Solidarity with political prisoners and disappeared politicians and journalists.

Activists from different organizations conducted a series of activities; they disseminated flyers and banners with information about political prisoners. BUNT activists were among those involved. Police forces behaved aggressively and arrested a great number of people.
